The Rotary Club or Auckland, one of New Zealand’s oldest and largest service clubs, approached Crackerjack Events in 2010 to partner with them and deliver the annual World Press Photo Exhibition as the club’s major fundraising initiative.

About the Exhibition

World Press Photo Exhibition is regarded as the world’s most prestigious exhibition of international current affairs photography and exhibits in over 40 countries and 200 cities annually.

The Exhibition is held at Smith & Caughey’s historic exhibition space. The creaking floor boards, dimly lit hallways and eerie spaces add to this poignant, powerful and thought provoking Exhibition.

Crackerjack Event’s Role

Crackerjack Events curates the Exhibition, under imposing guidelines from the Amsterdam based World Press Photo organisation. We also event manage the 5-week Exhibition including an upstairs-downstairs crowd management system to ensure a pleasant visitor experience, but also to maximise revenue for Rotary’s charities.

Budget, sponsor and stakeholder management is a vital part of our role too.

The marketing of the Exhibition - advertising, outdoor, direct, publicity and social media -is our responsibility too. Visitor data captured at the Exhibition assists us with creating a targeted marketing campaign each year.

The last 9 years, the Exhibition has had over 100,000 visitors, and enabled the Rotary Club of Auckland to donate substantial funds to their chosen charities.

The Exhibition provides a stark look at humanity and makes us appreciate our little slice of heaven down here in ‘Gods Own’.

“Pam and Jasmin, it was a real pleasure to be working with you. The high quality of your work and execution really is incredible! Thank you also for taking such good care of me!”
Yi Wen Hsia, Exhibitions Manager and Curator, World Press Photo Foundation
